Getting there by car:
Follow the A30 towards Penzance. At the end of the dual carriageway (Tesco’s) do not go into Penzance town, but stay on the A30, up the hill, heading towards Lands End. Go straight across at the 1st and 2nd roundabouts. At the third roundabout, turn right taking the A3071 to St. Just. About a mile along this road you will come to a crossroads which is called Tremethick Cross. Slow down, and take the left hand turn towards Sancreed. The cottage is about a mile up this road. The road will start to go down a hill, and then over a bridge at the bottom (Skimmel Bridge itself). The road will then turn slightly towards the right and go back up the hill again. You may (depending on the season) be able to see the white cottage from the bottom of the hill, up on the left hand side. Drive past the cottage, and you will see a drive on the left – this is the entrance to the cottage.
The drive is a sharp left turn, and you would be better to either drive past it and reverse in, alternatively, go further, turn around and come in the drive from the other direction.
Trains:
Penzance mainline Great Western Railway HST 125 and the new Hitachi 700 Class services from Penzance to Paddington and rest of country. Local branch line service to St Ives (never drive there, get the train from the park -and-ride at Lelant and enjoy the coastal views to Hayle through Carbis Bay). Good for a day trip to Truro or Eden too!
